Tsinghua University, Beijing

In November 2018 Ashley Howard was invited by Tsinghua University in Beijing to attend a two-week residency. Widely seen as China’s leading arts institution, Tsinghua saw Ashley working with students as well as developing a few ideas of his own. The residency was timed to enable Ashley’s inclusion in the 6th International Tea Culture Exchange Exhibition and Conference. Participating in the event was an honour in itself, however, Ashley was the only westerner taking part. He was among two hundred plus participants from China, Japan and Korea. This added special significance to Ashley’s inclusion and is an indicator of how well received his work is in the Far-East. Ashley delivered a paper at the accompanying conference.
